Our Story

We believe that integrative medicine is the future of healthcare

Our approach brings together modern medicine with ancient healing techniques. Our integrative doctor is trained to cherry pick the very best of both systems and adapt their delivery to your specific needs. The Bloom Integrative model is an effective and elegant system to help you reach a state of perfect health as defined by you, rather than simply avoiding a medical diagnosis.  We take into account the whole person, addressing not only the biological but also the psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health and illness, in order to help you feel your very best!

Often people just don't feel right, lack energy and have symptoms but their GP ordered blood tests all come back within the normal range. At Bloom we use cutting-edge functional medicine laboratory testing. These tests are great at picking up dysfunction in the body. They look at how the body works in a more sensitive fashion than standard labs that tend to remain normal until there is overt disease.

The tests we use also include genetic tests, hormone assessments in the urine (DUTCH), blood and or saliva assessments, advanced thyroid testing and many more. We also use specialised testing for autoimmunity, advanced cardiovascular screening, gut testing and organic acids testing which looks at products of metabolism in the urine and gives insight into neurotransmitters, intestinal health, detoxification capabilities and toxic exposures.

Specialised testing combined with in-depth history taking as well as comprehensive physical exams means we can help optimise your health no matter where your starting point.

Our Philosophy

  • Client and practitioner should be partners in the healing process.
  • Address imbalances in the body BEFORE they result in disease.
  • All factors that influence health should be taken into consideration; including mind, body, lifestyle, relationships, toxic exposures and diet.
  • The primary focus should be on identifying and treating the cause of illness, whilst also helping to alleviate symptoms
  • Walk the talk, in terms of our own health and wellbeing

  • Hormone imbalances (irritability, PMS, menopausal symptoms)
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Weight gain
  • Hypothyroid/Hyperthyroid
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Bloating and tummy trouble
  • Skin conditions
  • Stress/burnout
  • Immune trouble (frequent colds, flus or viral infections)
  • Cancer support

About Dr. Vanessa Ingraham, ND, FAARFM, ABAAHP

Dr Vanessa Ingraham is a native Bahamian, who came to New Zealand three years ago to help create a line of nutritional products sourced from local whole foods. She fell in love with both Auckland and an Aucklander and now is lucky enough to call NZ her home.  Vanessa grew up in a household where the tenets of holistic health were ingrained upon her from day one. With a physician as a father and a nurse turned health food store entrepreneur mother, she grew up drinking wheatgrass shots and talking about epigenetics around the dinner table, ever fascinated by both science and the natural world.

Dr Vanessa is the Medical Director at Bloom, bringing the experience of working in the highly advanced Californian medical eco-system with Silicon Valley executives as well as clinical experience in Toronto, Canada and Nassau, Bahamas.

Drawing upon her upbringing, Vanessa combines traditional wisdom with evidence-based medicine to meet clients where they are.  Vanessa considers herself a catalyst to instigate positive change in her patients and lives according to the values she teaches.  She enjoys the creative aspect of designing individualised treatment plans and thrives on the challenge of becoming your personal health detective.

Dr Vanessa was granted early acceptance into medical school after only 3.5 years of undergraduate studies in Pre-Medicine/Biology.  She attended The University of Georgia and Eckerd College in Southern Florida for her undergraduate studies before moving to Toronto, Canada.  Here she attended The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine for four years.

Upon completion of her classroom based medical studies, Vanessa entered a primary care internship at the Robert Shad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC), the outpatient teaching hospital associated with the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM).  She continued on to another internship at the Sherbourne Health Center in Toronto. The Sherbourne health center is a community-based clinic catering to HIV positive patients.

As a student intern, Vanessa treated patients for common health concerns including digestive issues, diabetes, heart disease, gynecological and female problems (fibroids, cervical cancer, endometriosis, PMS), mental health, complications of HIV and autoimmune conditions.

After graduating Vanessa became licensed first in Ontario and then in the State of California as a primary care doctor, practicing naturopathic and integrative medicine.

At Bloom, we work to uncover the lifestyle factors and imbalances that may be making or keeping you sick, and addressing these in order to create overall health.

Vanessa has a special clinical interest in hormonal conditions as well as treating mental health challenges. As the gut plays such an important role in both of these areas, intestinal and tummy troubles are also an area of expertise.

Post Graduation and Fellowship

After graduation from CCNM Dr Vanessa completed additional training in Integrative Oncology with Dr. Eric Marsden ND. By using strategies such as targeted botanical medicine, IV nutrients and specialised eating plans, we can improve the quality of life and make conventional cancer treatment more effective.  More information regarding this training can be found at Dr. Marsden’s website. Vanessa is also trained in Parenteral therapy (IV), mesotherapy and facial rejuvenation using non-invasive techniques. She was certified as a Healthy Breast Educator, having to complete training with Dr Sat Dharam Kaur, a naturopathic doctor and bestselling author who specializes in treating breast cancer.

Dr Vanessa became certified Hatha/Astanga yoga instructor in 2013, through The Yoga Sanctuary in Toronto Ontario.  For additional information on Dr. Sat Dharam, breast cancer prevention and the Healthy Breast Program please visit her website.

Dr Vanessa is a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M),  in Anti-aging, Functional and Regenerative Medicine (FAARFM).

This Fellowship is comprised of the latest findings and research in the areas of endocrinology, cardiology, autoimmunity, mental health, neurology, cancer therapies, nutrition, and a variety of other fields. Vanessa Graduated from this December.

During this training,  Vanessa  learned the detailed assessment and treatment of hormone imbalances in men and women.  The fellowship focus on functional and regenerative medicine and strict graduation requirements means this prestigious fellowship and board certification has only been attained by a few doctors in New Zealand and Vanessa is one of the youngest graduates worldwide.
